In this workshop we will learn not only about the movements but also the flamenco quality of the gestures, the rhythm and the different dance styles and songs. We will practice the technique as well as choreography and we will also learn a little introduction about the historical context of flamenco dance and music: how, when and where this artistic universe was born and how it has evoluted through the time.
FERNANDO LÓPEZ is a professional dancer, director and writer from Spain. He is a highly educated artist who holds a Degree in Philosophy from Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain), a degree in Contemporary Dance from Paris VIII University (France), a degree in Flamenco Dance from APDE-Cátedra de Flamencología de Jerez (Spain), a degree in Creative Writing and Imagination Techniques from Escuela Contemporánea de Humanidades (Spain), a Masters in “Philosophy and contemporary critics of the culture” and in “Dance research”, both from Paris VIII University where he is now a PhD candidate in the Dance Department.
Flamenco dance is a traditional Spanish dance created in the South of Spain in the middle of the 19th Century and who has experienced in an enormous evolution in the last twenty years.
